Our mission

At first UMC we are committed to not only supporting missions financially but being present to those in need and showing the love of Christ through lending a hand. We believe there isn’t an age requirement to share the love of Christ allowing people of all ages to participate.

Local Outreach We Offer

In-House Mission Team
Several projects a year are completed by our in-house mission teams. We answer the call whenever possible to assist our elderly members and neighbors with repairs and new projects such as handicap ramps, fixing and hanging doors, deck repairs, and yard work. These dedicated volunteers give of their time to assist others in need. The Serving Ministries Council always welcome new helping hands! Please contact the church office if you are interested.
Community Thanksgiving Dinner
With sponsors from various local banks, businesses, churches, the Azle Ministerial Alliance, and individuals, First Methodist Church of Azle hosts a free Community Thanksgiving Dinner open to the public on Thanksgiving Day at our facility. We invite all who would like to share a delicious meal to join with others for fellowship and thanks-giving. We deliver meals by reservation to the homebound who cannot join us. In 2023, we served 500 meals.

Good N.E.W.S
This is a mission founded in 1997 to help the most vulnerable in our community to remain in their own homes as long as possible by providing a wide array of services like friendly visits, shopping assistance, yard work, and minor household repairs just to name a few.
Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Help Center
Started in 1997 by a few area couples who saw the increasing cultural trend away from God and Family, the Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Help Center was birthed. In the 28 years since, they have served thousands of mothers, fathers, children, grandparents, abortion-minded, and post-abortive women and men. All of their services are free to program participants, and include pregnancy tests and verification, education classes individually designed to meet specific needs of clients, high school graduation, fatherhood mentorship, counseling, Christian discipleship, and referrals to other area resources. EMPHC is a 501c3 donor-funded non-profit and serves the Springtown, Azle, Lake Worth, and Fort Worth area communities.

They believe that God has a future and hope for all people, including unborn children and their parents. Eagle Mountain Pregnancy Help Center exists as a support system for the community to minister hope and healing to individuals involved in unplanned pregnancies and those who have experienced the trauma of abortions. EMPHC offers spiritual, emotional, and physical support. In addition, it is their goal to educate people in the community about God’s great plan for abstinence before marriage

Psalm 139:13-14 - "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
